Blog friends - your opinion please...
I told you yesterday that I was going to try the
 faux bois with suede trim

What do you think?
Which do you like better?

grosgrain with saddle stitch or suede?

the rosewood still looks more orange in photo than in real life

another new fabric
wild zebra
with black suede trim

with cherry red suede

and vivid pink velvet

which trim do you like with the zebra?

I spent hours pouring over fabric swatches
for the fall line.

Here are two great new fabrics:
the faux bois collection

maple

and rosewood

the color isn't as orange as it looks

so real looking - quite the conceit-
soft wooden frames

Suede trim will be used too.
for a good contrast, what do you think?

I posted this memento board before,
but I just had to show it to you all again
when I saw design*sponge on July 25th.

This pattern was one of my most popular fabrics in 2007.
I called the fabric mod taj;
my apologies to the designer for renaming the pattern.

Here is again on my picture frame.
Yours truly and dh on messy desk

Off to the Cod
yes, I know, Cod is wrong, but it is a family joke.

The whole family will be congregating in Falmouth this weekend.
We live far and wide across the USA so this weekend will be fun...
three sistahs go to Falmouth in the summer
and the rest of us are bunking in with them.
thanks sistahs!
Six siblings and spouses and children and Dad.
That's me in the painting and photo above
painted by my sistah Betsy a couple of summers ago
during a visit to the Cod.
Check out Betsy's painting on her blog.
She is an interior decorator too!

One of Jeanne's mermaids greets me every morning
as I reach into the fridge.

She rests comfortably under my very messy memento board!

CONGRATULATIONS

photo by Frances Janisch, July Country Living Magazine

to my dear friend Charlotte

here she is with her grandson

Charlotte and Appleseed Farm
are purveyors of the absolutely scrumptious
delicious fruit fillings for your "homemade pies"
from fruit grown in their own orchards

I am so happy to report that
Charlotte and Appleseed Farm
are winners !

Congratulations on your achievement as a
Country Living
Women Entrepreneur winner

Charlotte and I met at the Country Living Women Entrepreneurs Conference
where we both pitched our product,
along with Tricia Lowenfield, also a winner, and featured in my July 3, 2008 post.

Charlotte and I sat together as we waited to "pitch".
We boosted each other and then enjoyed the rest of the conference seated next to each other, chatting and learning about our lives, passions and businesses.
I knew then that Charlotte would be a winner...
I even told her that I would put money on her.

As I mentioned earlier, I posted a few weeks back about Tricia Lowenfield, another gal that I met at the conference who pitched at the same time, who is also a winner!

I have corresponded with each of these ladies since March
and featured them in my 2nd and 3rd blog postings.
I loved their products.
And lo an behold they are both winners.
I feel like a moth to the light - I was drawn to the winners!

Read my early blogs, #2 & #3 in April and you will learn so much more.

WELL DONE CHARLOTTE
YOU GO GIRL!
SEE YA AT THE FARM!!!

Blue Sky Sparklin' Day

describes the day perfectly

it is also the title of a wonderful children's song
that Miss Is and I listened to over and over again years ago

Marathon trip up to New Hampshire
and then back home, in a day!

Miss Is to take the less traveled road...

as the OWLES set off for a three week wilderness trip
traversing the northern regions of NH & ME

from Lake Umbagog, down the Androscoggin River,
to Acadia National Park and Isle Au Haut

and then to the Bigelow Mountains

living outside the whole time!
Ah, to be young.

Mad Men

cover of NYT's Magazine in May, 2008

I loved this show last summer;
it starts again on July 27th.

The show is a great period piece from the early 60's -
before the explosion
of new mores, new music, and women's liberation

to get into the mood read
The Man in the Gray Flannel Suit
written in 1955 by Sloan Wilson
According to Wikipedia this book is
"a novel about the American search for purpose
in world dominated by business"
(fun fact: author worked at Time, Inc)

and get the 1956 movie on netflix
with Gregory Peck and Jennifer Jones
modern version of fedora by Asli Filinta as featured on Daily Candy NYC July 9, 2008
