My fellow knit wit, Kris, found this fun and practical knitting bag on etsy.
Love the new take on the popular WWII poster from London:
from Keep Calm and Carry On to Keep Calm and Carry Yarn.

More projects "off the needles"
I carried my yarn to my home territory near Boston and was able to finish this blanket.
Two and one-half years in the making. Slow and steady wins the race - right?
My Father and I made a trip to see the college student so that I could hand deliver this treasure just in time for another snow storm.
Great picture of Grampa and Miss Is
on a cold and bright winter day.

Still have quite a stash of yarn and projects.
More off the needles later this week.
The momentum is great.
I may even finish putting together a sweater that I started more than 6 years ago!

Knitting is a wonderful way to pass the time during cold winter evenings.
Very relaxing too.
And I have so much more time to knit during my hibernation period.

The Art of the Wreath

cock a doodle doo

charming minutiae
knit by Char of the Knit Wits
with help from other knit wits
(except me)

duck duck goose

this little piggy ...

a favorite pony

little sheep before they are shorn

head butt

garden patch - kale and corn

All together these delicious minutiae
make a wonderful and charming wreath.

And it makes me smile ear to ear.
Well Done Char and all the other ladies.
The wreath will be donated to Ambler Farm, Wilton Connecticut
and
it will be auctioned off to the highest, lucky bidder
at The ART OF THE WREATH on December 4th, at Ambler Farm.

Get out those paddles and raise 'em high!
All to support one of my favorite places in town.

Here is last year's wreath made and donated by the Knit Wits

I have written about Ambler Farm a few times.
It is my second favorite place in town - same for Libby the pooch.
This is our walk- we do a figure 8 around the top field
and then head back to the barn and beyond.
Everything was a buzz at the farm today; Ambler Farm Day is Sunday -
the BIG fundraiser.

This is one of the favorite activities - the catapult - pumpkins are hurled into the fields
longest hurl wins something...
As you may recall, the Knit Wits, my knitting group here in town,
decided to create a scarecrow for Ambler Farm Day -
check out the earlier posts here and here
Today we assembled the guy - he is very big

I will post the completed scarecrow on Sunday.
I had to leave before he was finished.
I had a pitch meeting at a new wholesale account
and I got the business - yea!

Head on stick - I know, it looks a bit medieval
and, no, he wasn't beheaded.

Our inspiration below

We have some very talented knitters in the group - check out today's show & tell
all garments knit by prodigious p. - just beautiful -
I am still working on my blanket project from last September
it will be done eventually...

The scarecrow will make his debut on October 3, 2009
at Ambler Farm Day

No rain on Sunday

Tent left over from a shindig the night before.

Ambler Farm: one of my favorite places.

To celebrate the fine day -
the first day sans rain in ages,
miss is suggested a picnic

then a walk.
This is heaven for Libby.

Her ears flapping in the wind,

looks like she could take flight.

Here is our double figure 8 loop
and looking back.
Beautiful.

I just love the lollipop trees.

We picked dessert right off the blackberry bushes.

delish
headed for the second loop
watched these gorgeous butterflies connect

then visited the animals

new chickies - I counted 28
Libby loves the new lambies
they're old friends now

Next weekend: the garden.
We buy wonderful organic veggies here all summer.

This is where the knit wits scarecrow will reside.

The knit wits are at it again

What's this you say?
A template for our next charitable project.

The knit wits are creating a scarecrow for Ambler Farm here in Wilton.
It will make its debut at Ambler Farm Day, October 3 2009

We were inspired by this scarecrow from Atlanta

and donated to the Atlanta Textile Museum.

Here is a picture of Ambler Farm - to be continued -
